are comfortable with it but, unfortunately, their spouses are not. This is because
we are asked to do things that go against our nature and change in ways that are
uncomfortable. Most of us are not interested in getting in touch with our feelings or
our "feminine side." We want to be who we are but also enjoy our spouse. It can be done.
We wrote our book as a couple. Charlie loves "romance novels" while I'm still
striving, after all these years, to become as romantic and sensitive as Homer Simpson. (There's
probably a correlation there.) One of my contributions, at least in my mind,
was to keep Mastering Marriage "male-friendly."
It's not that we favor men, it's just that we tried hard not to ask them to do things
they will object to doing, thereby defeating the purpose. It takes both of you to make
your marriage everything you dreamed it would be.

There’s no theory, preaching, or getting in touch with your inner anything. There are
personal stories, however, and cartoons to illustrate points, making it a fun read.
We focus on love not "romance" as described in novels and movies. If you are lucky,
you will also experience such romantic gestures but they don't fit my personality.
In spite of this, I know that Charlie feels truly loved and appreciated every day. She's
